"The War of the Worlds"

An illustration for the story by HG Wells.

This was a challenge taken on by myself and a fellow artist who was going to tackle one of the Martian fighting machines in sculpture form. He wasn't happy with what he came up with (although it looked great to me) and didn't complete it.

And I can understand, because I had a lot of trouble with this too! I spent a lot of time trying to work out how the tripod walking mechanism would work, whilst also trying to stick as closely as possible to Wells' descriptions.

I'm reasonably happy with the way it worked out, but I might come back to this subject one day and have another go.
